At the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, the athlete made headlines by scoring the very first perfect ten on asymmetrical bars. Additionally her score, she was able to rack up six more perfect tens, which made her the youngest Olympic gold medalist, at barely 14 years old. Not only did she draw attention, she helped Romania become a household name. The sports icon came into the the spotlight after achieving a record-breaking score, thus in creating legends and increasing the popularity of gymnastics as an athletic sport throughout all over the world. This also influenced the public's view of female gymnasts. It was because of her influence during her participation in the Olympics that an uneven bars sport features two gymnastics moves named after her: toe-on and release move, which are, till date, considered to be at an extremely difficult level. The gymnast also did well in World Championships, European Championships and Olympics. Her performance led to her becoming a legend and she's now one of the best gymnasts across the world.
